Registration fees

  • Register to attend the conference with accommodation

The conference registration fee covers all the conference materials and stay in a double room (sharing with another participant – stay in single room is possible after paying an extra amount) for four days / three nights at Mövenpick Resort & Marine Spa Sousse Palace Sousse to include:

  • Accommodation (4 days, 3 nights – check-in on 10th of June, check-out on 13th of June 2021)
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners
  • Coffee breaks
  • Springer certificate of participation
  • Springer promotional gift
  • Conference bag
  • USB flash drive (including the conference program / proceedings)

* International participants may check into the hotel and register at the conference one day or more earlier (i.e. on or prior to the 9th of June 2021) and check out one day or more after the conference (i.e. on or after the 13th of June 2021). The cost of each extra night (60 EUR) will be added to the registration fee. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided and included in the total registration fee during the extra days.


  • Register to attend the conference with no accommodation

There is a possibility to attend the conference with no accommodation. In this case, the registration fee covers:

  • Lunch for 3 days (i.e. on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June 2021)
  • Coffee breaks
  • Springer certificate of participation

  • Large USB flash drive (including the conference program / proceedings)

  • Register for virtual presentation

If you cannot attend the conference but still wish to have your paper presented and considered for publication in the special issues, we offer a virtual presentation option for your convenience. Virtual presenters are expected to record a voice-over PowerPoint (more details will be sent after online registration) and submit the file online (link will be sent after payment of the registration fee) before 20 May 2021. Virtual presenters are still required to submit an abstract and, if they wish, an extended abstract before the deadline (see Important Dates), and at least one author must pay the registration fee. Your conference documents will be sent to your email after the conference.

  • Register to include your accepted paper in the proceedings without attending the conference

If your paper is accepted, it may be published in the conference proceedings by Springer even if you are not attending the conference. In this case, a fee of 200 EUR for each accepted paper must be paid before the deadline of 10 May 2021. The fee covers the costs of the editorial handling and peer-review evaluation of your paper through the conference evaluation system. The accepted paper will not be included in the final conference program (see Author Guidelines and Publications for more details).

  • To be included in the final conference program, at least one author of each accepted abstract must register online to attend the conference and select the payment method before the deadline of 10 May 2021 (see "Payment terms" below for more details).
  • If multiple short papers by the same first author are accepted in the final conference proceedings and program, an amount of 150 EUR should be paid for each additional paper.
  • It is possible to attend the conference without submitting a paper after paying the registration fee online or onsite.

Airport shuttle service

  • There will be a free-of-charge shuttle service for international participants between the airport of Tunis–Carthage and the conference venue in Sousse (100 min). Accompanying persons should pay 30 EUR to cover the return fare of airport transfers. This offer does not apply to residents of Tunisia.
  • The airport shuttle service provides round-the-clock service between Tunis–Carthage airport and Sousse. It provides our international participants and accompanying persons with safe, affordable, and reliable transport.
  • The shuttle schedules offer a variety of times to choose from whether you are arriving or departing. Drivers will be waiting with a sign “EMCEI-2021” at the exit of international arrival. If you can’t find the driver, you can give the airport shuttle office a call at +216 98 22 63 41 or +216 20 22 70 34. Please don’t call them for making the reservation! It will be made automatically during the registration step.
  • The free-of-charge airport shuttle service is offered to international conference participants arriving on 09 or 10 June 2021 (i.e. Transfer from the airport of Tunis–Carthage to Sousse) and departing on 13 or 14 June 2021 (i.e. Transfer from the conference hotel in Sousse to the airport of Tunis–Carthage).

Extra-nights and accompanying persons

  • Extra night: 60 EUR per night in a double room (covering also the costs of 3 meals per day).
  • Supplement for a single room: 30 EUR per night (not guaranteed, depending on hotel capacity).
  • Accompanying person: 60 EUR per night in a double room (covering also the costs of 3 meals per day).
  • Children’s rates (2–12 years): 50% discount in parents room and 25% discount in a separate room.

Guided Tours

We are planning a guided tour of the old city of Sousse (20 EUR, max. 30 people) and a visit to the Mediterranean village of Sidi Bou Said on Sunday, June 13th after lunch at 2 pm (30 EUR, max. 50 people). Please see Social Program for more details about both guided tours.

Payment terms

  • Payment can be made via the following methods:
    • By cash on-site at the conference registration desk (only after online registration).
    • By online payment using a credit card (recommended)
    • By Bank Transfer (the full amount without any deduction should be paid including the bank transfer fees).
  • Deadline for online registration for the conference and hotel is 20 April 2021.
  • Confirmation of conference registration and hotel reservation will only be guaranteed upon paying online for international participants or receipt of scanned copy of Order Form / Bank Check (Tunisian/local participants) before 10 May 2021.
  • If you prefer to register at the conference and pay cash on-site at the conference desk please send a scanned copy of your airline ticket before 10 May 2021.
  • Acceptance of your paper in the conference program will only occur following registration. Please send the scanned copies by email to: contact@emcei.net. If you cannot send these copies before 10 May 2021, please ask for an extension by email specifying the reasons.
